Boooooo!

So here's a bunch of pictures from the weekend. We finally caught a show with The White Ghost Shivers, a great local band that plays big band jazz craziness. We also headed out to E Rock and some cool fall festivals.

Aaaannnddd here's a video: Connor Last Night Playing Piano

Things with Connor are awesome. He's becoming a dare devil and throwing tantrums. It's still in the cute stage for sure. He should be walking in a few weeks and can stand up by himself, not holding onto anything, for as long as he wants. Last night he learned the word "bird."

Tonight we are going to some friend's house to see all the trick or treaters. Our plan was to dress Connor as YODA this year, but alas, no costume was found. So instead he'll go as mini-Michael, the same character as the other 364 days of the year.

I will, once again, for the 7th straight Haloween, go as the ghost of River Phoenix.

Pianos and a cape

We went to hear some bluegrass tonight and then headed to the toy store to let Connor and play... He loves the little pianos. He also has a birthday coming up. Coincidence? I think not!

Crazy Parenting

Quiet possibly the craziest thing Becca has done with Connor. Oh, except sky diving. Once with him in her stomach and once with him on the ground waiting.

I did it too though...

More Catan...

After a super busy weekend of free(ish) adventures we stayed around the house all day, watched sports, worked on art projects, played with Connor. Now we're playing Catan with some friends and Becca's trying to put Connor to sleep.

Earlier he woke up from a long nap and gave me the best snuggle time I've ever got. He just kept plopping his head down on me and laying on my chest. There is nothing better in the world! Tomorrow it's back to work for me and Connor and Becca are headed to the lake for a hike. They have to train up for our trip to Enchanted Rock next weekend...

Yes I won Catan. Yes becca poisoned my well and tried to make me the catanemy of the game.

Also we fed Connor a lemon at dinner. I'll post the video tomorrow!

Did I mention we found a duck po d down the road? Awesomeness!!

Extremes...

Billy Joel once sang about life being either "sadness or euphoria." He later crooned "I don't know why I go to extremes, Too high or too low there ain't no in-betweens." Now that's a guy that sees thing one way or the other, not both. (Let's forget about the whole Shades of Gray thing... that was much later in his career.

OR, put perhaps more poetically...

Eugene O’Neil, the famous playwright, once said: "One should either be sad or joyful. Contentment is a warm sty for eaters and sleepers."

Hmmm… I kind of like that. Joyful is such a great word. Well that’s what I feel when I go back and watch some of these videos of Connor. The one of him dancing makes me feel so good and like my heart is overflowing. Full. Of. Joy.

If you think about it, babies are kind of like O’Neil was recommending-Extremes in one way or the other. I don’t think Connor ever gets sad but he’s either very happy, having fun, loving life, or if something’s wrong, he lets you know. Babies got it figured out. As adults I think we forget all the things we once knew when we were young.

One of the best things about having Connor is getting those glimpses into the world through his eyes. Babies can find joy everywhere they look, whether it’s dancing in the bath tub or tearing up a cardboard box. Smart kid indeed.

Connor,

What a delight you are. Every day you make us laugh. Last week, we took you to a family friendly concert at, where else, South Park Meadows. You danced your pants off. Literally. You danced so hard, your pants fell off.  We didn't even know you could dance. Or that you knew you were suppose to dance when you heard music.

Well, you have been dancing almost non-stop since that night, and while we couldn't catch it on video that night, we did catch you dancing in the bath!!

Here it is: Connor's bath time dancing

Hiking, Checking the Mail, Etc

So check out Connor's newest feat...

Video:
Huge Accomplishment Here

It actually happened a few days ago and since then he's really honed his skills at "checking the mail." It's so fun to watch him learn these new things!

We've had some fun adventures since my last post. Sunday we went on a super cool hike... As you can see, Connor started on a high, sitting on top of my car at the trial head, but then crashed after about two hours and was super tired. Hamilton Pool was empty and we had the place almost entirely to ourselves.

Monday and Tuesday we've had Aunt Maegan staying with us which was awesome. I'll post those pictures tomorrow.
